Research Interests:



Professor Eldersveld's major focus has been the comparative analysis of political parties, elites, and mass political behavior. He has just published his Chinese study of local elites and masses with Shen Ming Ming. Professor Eldersveld is presently working on a study comparing the American and Western European social welfare systems, with the aim of explaining the contrasts in the assumptions of responsibility for the reduction and elimination of poverty.
